MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The 99th annual installment of The Feast of San Gennaro is set to start on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The annual festival, which takes place in Manhattan’s neighborhood of Little Italy, runs from September 11-21, and will close a number of streets according to the Department of Transportation.
“For generations, this feast has always been an important part of our neighborhood, not only representing the Saint Himself but also representing our ancestors, our culture, and our traditions,” read the website.
The festival started in 1926 as a one-day block party to celebrate the patron saint of Naples, and over the decades, it has become a multiday event that stretches 11 days over 11 blocks.
