NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The man accused of killing a couple in their home in Queens has been taken into custody, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced Wednesday evening.

Jamel McGriff was apprehended after being spotted by police officers in Midtown Manhattan, Tisch posted on X.

McGriff, a parolee who was wanted in connection with a double murder in Queens on Monday, has a string of violent robberies, including one where he was convicted of sexually assaulting a worker in a Manhattan store 20 years ago, authorities said Tuesday.

In November 2005, McGriff, 42, robbed a 34-year-old man at knifepoint on an F train near the Delancey Street-Essex Street subway station in Lower Manhattan, according to the NYPD. McGriff took the victim’s $200 watch and $40 in cash, police said.
