Charlie Kirk, a conservative wunderkind who through his radio show, books, political organizing and speaking tours did much to shape the hard-right movement that has coalesced around President Donald Trump, becoming a close ally of his, died Wednesday in Orem, Utah, after he had been shot while speaking at a college campus event. He was 31.
Trump confirmed the death on his social media site, Truth Social.
Kirk had just taken the stage at the event, at Utah Valley University, when he was shot in the neck shortly after noon. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later declared dead.
