MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Years removed from being an elementary school, Benita Lovell wants help to turn this overgrown building in Transylvania into an animal shelter.
Founder and Director of Riverbend Animal Shelter, Benita Lovell says, “Rescue does not mean damaged. It means they were let down by humans. I want to be a human that did not let them down. I’m hoping that there are others out there that want to be humans that don’t let them down and are willing to or want to help me get this moving a lot faster.”
She says she hopes to have a temporary shelter set up on the property in the near future. Once the interior is renovated, Lovell says the facility will have obedience and service dog training classes, as well as a spay and neuter clinic.
