MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -The Madison Public Market will eventually house food vendors from all over Madison.

The project has been long awaited by both community members and the businesses that will be relying on the space, after the project was postponed because of COVID, and has been delayed multiple times since.

It broke ground in 2023.

City officials said the most recent delay , pushing the market’s opening from November 2025, to early 2026, is because of a part shortage.

They explained that the contractors are unable to get the electrical equipment needed to finish construction.

Officials reiterated that the Madison Public Market is set to open at the beginning of next year, but some vendors said that they need a more specific date to prepare properly.
