Tim Leech is usually at the Capitol knocking on lawmakers’ doors advocating for firefighters’ rights, safety and compensation. But on Wednesday, he was there as a firefighter.

In a remembrance event led by Pa. Sen. Doug Mastriano, R-Adams County, Leech was among several guests who read the names of the 246 airplane passengers and crew who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks 24 years ago Thursday.

Nearly 3,000 people died on September 11, 2001, in the worst act of terrorism on U.S. soil. Hijackers flew commercial jets into the World Trade Center towers in New York City and the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C.
