SHELLSBURG, Iowa (KCRG) - Vinton-Shellsburg High School hadn’t won a football game since September 23rd, 2022. That drought ended last Friday night, as the Vikings won 42-14 over Jesup.

Quarterback, Colt Koeppen, broke the program’s single game, passing touchdown record with five. He said years went into the process.

“We work hard every single day. We’re here and have support. It helps make it so football is fun for everybody. Win or loss, we’re still out here having fun,” said Koeppen.

One of the receivers, Jacoby Johnson, had three touchdowns in the game. He was thrilled to finally get a win.

“We’ve just been thirsty for that win, every single day. We just want that feeling and we finally got it. It was the best feeling that any one of us have ever experienced,” said Johnson.
