Lake Michigan College is naming one of its new athletic fields in honor of the matriarch of women’s athletics on campus.

LMC Vice President of Advancement and Community Impact Doug Schaffer tells us they’ll hold a dedication ceremony next Saturday to officially name the Liz and Lloyd Miller Family Field. Schaffer says Liz is a legend for LMC athletics.

“ We chose the softball field because she coached all of the women’s sports at LMC, but she really developed a powerhouse team with softball and then later went from LMC to build a national contending softball team at the University of Notre Dame,” Schaffer said.

Liz started the Lake Michigan College women’s athletics program as a three-sport coach in 1974. Her husband was also a big supporter of the college.
