SOLON, Ohio -- A Solon elementary school will remain closed through Friday (Sept. 12) as officials await results from independent environmental testing.

Tamara Strom, director of communications for Solon City Schools, said administrators are monitoring the situation at Roxbury Elementary closely and will share details with families as soon as plans are finalized.

The closure was first announced Sept. 6 after results from environmental testing showed one sample in a classroom with elevated levels of asbestos.

Subsequent expedited testing of the same area returned negative results, which matched the district’s past routine asbestos monitoring required by law.
