Failed attempt at 'controlled burn' leads to arrest in Port Orchard

A Port Orchard man was taken into custody Monday evening after he failed to extinguish a fire he lit that almost reached a neighbor's property.

In a video posted online by the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office Tuesday evening, crews from South Kitsap Fire & Rescue are shown finishing up dousing a small fire on SW Pine Road in Port Orchard. KCSO said the fire was reported by a neighbor around 5 p.m. when he noticed smoke and saw the fire had burned up to his fence line.
