SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Mental health is at the top of many people's minds after the deadly Annunciation Church shooting in Minneapolis.

The new Capitol Park Mental Health Hospital in Saint Paul was built to address the shortage of mental health care facilities in Minnesota.

Health leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday afternoon to officially unveil the new facility.

The 144-bed hospital is located at 559 N. Capitol Blvd., just a block behind the State Capitol.

The facility is a joint venture between Fairview Health Services and Acadia Healthcare.

Hospital administrators say the facility will provide short-term care to adults who are experiencing a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorders, and co-occurring substance use diso
