CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio —

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a deadly assault at a Clermont County hotel in 2019.

Jabar Ishmail, 44, was convicted last month on one count of aggravated murder and one count of murder, concluding a six-day trial. Advertisement

Prosecutors say Union Township police officers responded on March 14, 2019, to multiple calls from a Days Inn after a man in the lobby said he was assaulted.

Officials say Ishmail was the man claiming to be the victim. While he was being treated by officers and paramedics, authorities say hotel staff located a woman in the room registered to Ishmail who had been stabbed multiple times.

Officers and detectives at the scene said Ishmail had attacked, beaten and stabbed the victim, Kailin Jones, 18 times. Jon
