Sequim – A 26-year-old Port Angeles man is in custody on child rape charges stemming from an incident last summer at Railroad Bridge Park in Sequim.

It was on June 19, 2024 just before 11:00pm when deputies responded to a report of a missing 13-year-old girl who was last known to be at Railroad Bridge Park. The girl’s father told deputies his daughter left home with another 13-year-old girl to go to the park at around 8:00 pm but never returned.

The father said he searched the park but couldn’t find them. Deputies responded with Sequim Police Officers, who eventually found them. The two girls told police they were with a man and his dog hiding after becoming scared of a bear in the area.
