A 30-year-old St Thomas resident, known to police for repeated property crimes, has been arrested after officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on Myrtle Street.

At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a caller reported someone trying to break into vehicles and provided a description of the person , police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in possession of several items of property and multiple small knives, according to police.

Investigators later determined the man was under court-ordered conditions prohibiting weapons.

The man was charged with one count of trespassing by night and four counts of failing to comply with probation order, police said, adding that he was taken into custody.
