LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The Clark County School District responded to a report showing test scores are down nationwide.

The Department of Education said test scores are down, ranging from middle school to high school. The National Assessment of Education Progress found high school seniors had the lowest scores in more than 20 years. Eighth-grade students saw a huge drop in science skills.

Educators say the scores can’t be blamed on COVID-19 alone. Closures and absenteeism were also issues. Experts believe increased screen time, a decline in long-form reading and shorter attention spans may be factors as well.
