ROCHESTER, Minn.- Rochester Public Schools held a public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 9, for the potential closure and sale of three aging and underused buildings.

The three buildings up for sale are Mighty Oaks Early Learning School, the old Skyline Elementary and Friedell Middle School.

Superintendent Kent Pekel, says the proposal will require a first and second reading before they can go on the market, but the sale could save the district a lot of money in utilities, potential repairs and insurance costs.

The superintendent says Skyline hasn't been used as a school since 1976 it has no running water, heating or windows.

The district currently uses it as storage space for extra equipment.
