COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WPTA) - The Columbia City Haunted Jail has been nominated by USA Today for the best haunted attraction in the country.

Owner of the Haunted Jail, Paul Harrington, has been scaring people in 21Country for years.

In 2019, the attraction was awarded the fifth-place spot, and just last year, the fourth-place spot.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, we earn that ranking every day,” Harrington said. “The honor is ours to have you as a customer, and then all we care about is that you had a good experience. What makes us great is the energy we put into the crowd.”

Harrington said his favorite part of running the attraction year after year is the people.

“Our staff is like 99% volunteer,” Harrington said. “And it’s because they absolutely love it.”
