A Rio Arriba County Sheriff's Office deputy faces felony fraud and embezzlement charges in connection with his work at two New Mexico law enforcement agencies in recent years.
New Mexico State Police investigators allege Trevor Cade Walker, 25, illegally intercepted checks from the sheriff's office, taking funds that were garnished from his wages and meant for the city of Aztec, a community in the Four Corners region where he was previously employed as an officer.
Walker faces third-degree felony counts of fraud and embezzlement for depositing checks totaling more than $5,000 over several months, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Rio Arriba County Magistrate Court.
