Gov. Josh Shapiro has ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all facilities, public buildings, and grounds across Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff as a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was shot dead at a university in Utah on Wednesday.

The flags shall remain lowered until sunset on Sunday, Sept. 14.

All Pennsylvanians were invited to participate in the tribute.

They were originally slated to be lowered only on Thursday in observance of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
