CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - Mayor William Cogswell spoke with the public Wednesday night, answering questions from residents about the proposed district overlay zone, which would add a cancer research and care center to MUSC's campus.

Things like stormwater management and building height are some main concerns for residents. Cogswell and other city leaders listened and provided reassurance that they are focused on addressing these concerns, while building top of the line cancer care to the state.

"Our vision is that this would be best in class," MUSC president Dr. David Cole said. "Think Cleveland Clinic. Think MD Anderson."

Cole says this center would be a valuable resource for the city. He feels this is an investment for the future, to help best serve the community.
