SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Wednesday, dozens of Sioux Falls kids walked away with new shoes, smiles and confidence.

Food truck owner Rudy Navarrete held his annual shoe giveaway at Cleveland and Laura B. Anderson Elementary Schools.

For eight years, Navarrete has teamed up with Trade Home Shoes to make sure children in after-school programs have name-brand shoes to call their own.

“Just seeing the kids smile and their excitement. It’s a big deal for them, and it’s a memory that will hopefully last them a long time. Hopefully, someday they return the favor, and it just keeps on going and going. The ripple effect of giving is a beautiful thing,” Navarrete said.

This year, Navarrete selected K-5 after-school programs to be the recipients of the shoes.
