PENDER, Neb. (KCAU) — What was once a corn field is now the Pender School Systems' new athletic complex, complete with a track, stands, a press box, a concession stand, and a brand new digital score board.

"(This is) two-week-old concrete," said head of maintenance Tony Crippen.

Crippen was instrumental in the installation of the new scoreboard, after installing the school's indoor scoreboard just years before. "I built the frame. Put the frame up, and my summer helper (she) helped me up in the lift, putting stuff up," he said.
