MUSKEGON, Mich. — A sign posted on one of the entrances to the Cole’s Quality Foods plant in Muskegon instructed employees to check in with the front desk before their shift.
Those employees were told they no longer have jobs.
“They came in at 11 o'clock and said they closed the doors and sent everybody home. No notice, nothing,” said employee Daniel Berghuis. “I dedicated my life there.”
According to a City of Muskegon statement , production at the Lakeshore Drive facility stopped on Wednesday, and the business will officially be closed on Nov. 9.
Berghuis was one of 171 employees with the food company, specializing in frozen garlic bread.
