MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - Crews are working to expand U.S. 33 to four lanes in Meigs County, using rock blasting.

It’s something neighbors still remember when the highway first opened.

“It rocked my house like no tomorrow. I had windows broken, cracks in my basement,” one neighbor said.

“Twenty some years ago whenever they blasted, it shook our house and so we just wanted to come so we could be informed of what was going on this time,” said Tara Roberts, a homeowner who loves near the construction.

Traffic officials hosted a meeting on Wednesday to address concerns before blasting starts later this month.

Neighbors like Tara Roberts were concerned about road closures, but officials said short rolling roadblocks will be set up when crews start blasting.
