Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed in Utah on Wednesday, prompting reactions from local supporters across New Mexico.
On Aug. 11, Kirk visited Albuquerque , where he was the headliner for "Freedom Night in America" at Legacy Church, drawing an estimated 5,000 attendees.
Among those in attendance was New Mexico State Sen. and Minority Floor Leader William Sharer, who told KOAT he was both sad and disgusted over Kirk's killing, saying, "his whole purpose was that we need to come together as a nation. We need to have good discourse."
Sharer also noted Kirk's Christian faith was significant at the event.
