Girls flag football players throughout the Peoria Unified School District finally feel like they can get in the game.

For two years, most of the district’s high schools played in a spring league, against each other and against Paradise Valley district schools earlier in 2024 and 2025.

Meanwhile, more districts across the state were playing in the Arizona Interscholastic Association fall leagues in 2023 and 2024. Attention followed from the Arizona Cardinals, the Fiesta Bowl and media across the state.

“It’s fun playing in the spring, but there’s better teams and definitely some of that to look forward to. Those games are definitely something you want to play in,” Liberty junior Makenna Johnson said.
