Solon quarterback Eli Kampman snapped the ball, faked a handoff and drifted to his right with his eyes fixed downfield.
It was about two minutes into Kampman’s first career start behind center for Solon when he broke the game open against Assumption in Week 1 of the 2025 Iowa high school football season.
Lunging into the air on the third play of the game, he launched a deep pass that landed in the hands of receiver Kaden Hoeper, who raced into the end zone untouched.
With that 73-yard score, Kampman had arrived as the Spartans’ new QB1. He finished with 272 passing yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions in Solon’s 36-13 win over the Knights.
