QUINCY (WGEM) - Monday was 9-8-8 Day and September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

Transitions of Western Illinois wants to remind those in our area about what services are available to them and that 9-8-8 is an important phone number.

The 9-8-8 crisis lifeline is the phone number to access emergency assistance if a person is having a mental health crisis.

The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

More than 16 million calls have come into 9-8-8 since its inception in 2022, that’s more than 600,000 calls a month nationally.
