Thursday, Sept. 11 marks the 24-year anniversary of when airplanes were flown into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania in an act of terrorism that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Events are scheduled in New York City, as well as in Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon, to commemorate and remember the day. You can watch the events live at the embedded video at the top of this page or on USA TODAY's YouTube channel. The livestream is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET.

President Donald Trump is expected to be in attendance at the events held at the Pentagon.

Vice President J.D. Vance has canceled plans to travel to New York City for the Sept. 11 commemoration. He will instead travel to Utah in the wake of the fatal Charlie Kirk shooting to pay respects to Kirk's family.
