HELENA — For the first time in its five-year history, the Kalispell-based Women’s Shooting Sports Association met in Helena last weekend for trap shooting competition and education.

“We held the last four annual events in Kalispell,” said Tori Hinther, social media chair for the association. “But now that our organization is growing, Kalispell’s trap club wasn’t big enough for all of us. We also wanted a location more centered in the state for ease of travel for the majority of our members. That’s why we’ve moved operations to Helena.”

Women from across Montana traveled to the Helena Trap Club for the events, which included shooting tips from gun-fitting expert Tracy Kienitz.

“I know it’s a challenge,” she said. “Most of these guns are made for men.”
