VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – One of the owners of the dogs that fatally mauled an 8-year-old boy near DeLand early this year is set to be arraigned on Thursday.

Michael Millett was mauled to death by two dogs while riding his bike in a DeLand-area neighborhood back in January . The dogs, which got loose from a nearby home before the attack, were later euthanized.

On Aug. 13, the state attorney for Brevard and Seminole counties announced Amanda Franco — who was one of the dogs’ owners, along with her roommate, Brandy Hodil — would face a misdemeanor charge under the Dangerous Dogs Act for an “attack or bite by unclassified dog that causes severe injury or death.”
