Radim Mrtka spent the summer in Europe training for his first NHL rookie camp with the Buff alo Sabres. Before he could get on a plane to the United States, though, he had to earn his driver's license.
He didn't need it to clear customs and cross the Atlantic Ocean. He needed a license in order to commute from his hometown of Havlickuv Brod, Czechia, to Prague – about a 90-minute drive – in order to train for his first NHL camp.
Mrtka was the Buff alo Sabres' first-round pick in the NHL draft in June, and is one of eight 2025 Sabres draft picks who are taking part in rookie camp and in the Prospects Challenge last week at LECOM Harborcenter.
