ST. LOUIS — A gunman driving on a busy stretch of South Kingshighway pulled alongside another vehicle and fatally shot the motorist in broad daylight last month, police said in court documents.

Kenneth Dotson, 25, was charged Wednesday with firing the shot that killed 24-year-old Darion Reed. Dotson was held without bond on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The attack on Aug. 23 in the Tower Grove South neighborhood was captured on surveillance camera, police said.

Darion Reed, 24, of St. Louis, died Aug. 29 at a hospital six days after being shot. Reed lived in the 4400 block of Tennessee Avenue.

Police said Reed was struck in the neck as he drove near South Kingshighway and Connecticut Street about 4 p.m. on Aug. 23.
