LOWELL — The Old Wooden Racket isn't just a trophy.
When Lake Central and Lowell meet on the tennis court, the rivalry doubles as a fundraiser, turning competition into a cause by supporting local veterans.
More than 100 fans gathered to celebrate the seventh annual match that fundraises for Operation Charlie Bravo . The nonprofit, located in Crown Point, is committed to helping veterans find life-changing, impactful solutions to prevent suicide and homelessness.
Lake Central took control of the trophy, defeating the Red Devils 4-1. The Indians won the first four of the annual matches before giving up the title in 2023 and 2024.
