San Francisco businesses are banking on the Bay Area’s record-setting interest in the Golden State Valkyries only growing as the WNBA team’s inaugural season extends into the playoffs — even though it’s not yet scheduled to play in The City in the postseason.

The Valkyries sold out all 22 of their regular-season home games at Chase Center and set a league record for total attendance as they became the only WNBA expansion team to clinch a playoff berth in its inaugural season. Local business owners have benefitted, too, and multiple proprietors told The Examiner they’re anticipating that to continue when the league’s postseason begins Saturday.
