Three of Mandurah’s local dolphins have been spotted in the Peel-Harvey Estuary after migrating down to Bunbury for a holiday.
Karenina, Buddy and Nikaila are three of six dolphins who vanished from Mandurah’s waterways, prompting a probe by researchers.
Five of the dolphins went missing in the winter of 2024 and were discovered in the Bunbury area in January.
Six-year-old Ryder became the sixth dolphin to reappear alive and well in the Leschenault Estuary recently after being missing since the winter of 2023.
It was the first time the migration had been recorded by Estuary Guardians Mandurah, the Dolphin Discovery Centre and Geographe Marine Research, with experts keen to learn more about the unknown interconnectedness of the region.
