Fan fiction has been around for decades, some of it good, a lot of it a diabolical sight to behold. Over time, though, fan fiction has found a new way of breaking into the one place it seems impossible for it to go without being subjected to several copyright lawsuits, and some deft changes to names and descriptions have allowed the likes of Fifty Shades of Grey to become a global phenomenon. Now it is the turn of a novel that began life as a Harry Potter fan-fic to break the mold with a $3 million movie deal.
