Jurors decided Wednesday evening that a woman accused of killing her father in Loveland last year is not guilty of second-degree murder.
In a two-week trial in 8th Judicial District Court at the Larimer County Justice Center in Fort Collins, the defense and prosecution disagreed about whether Heather Cushman, 33, acted in self-defense on Sept. 9, 2024 when stabbing John “Clint” Cushman, 60, in his home in the 800 block of East Sixth Street.
During closings, Cushman’s attorney Matt Mulch said to the jury that spending the past year on her case was difficult for him.
“If Heather can get some justice, then it’s 100% worth it,” Mulch said.
