More than 50 apprentices are launching their careers with British Steel. At the company's operations in Teesside and Skinningrove , 14 new apprentices are embarking on their studies while 12 Technical and Functional apprentices will also join the business soon.

Around 30 of the new starters will work at the business’ manufacturing headquarters in Scunthorpe and have joined in electrical, mechanical, and fabrication and welding roles. Together, the 56 apprentices are the first to join the steelmaker in three years.

British Steel CEO (interim) Allan Bell said: “We are delighted to be welcoming our new apprentices into the business. They are an important part of our future as they are our next generation of engineers, technical, and functional experts.
