To the side of the Rochdale Village co-op’s fall festival, a growing crowd gathered around Rodney Reid, a former co-op board member and president.
“Governor Hochul needs to understand that we will remember next election cycle who was here for us. And it’s certainly not the governor,” said Reid, who is leading a protest against the state’s proposed 22 to 30 percent increase in monthly carrying charges. The charges stem from nearly $17 million in unpaid water bills and $195 million in predatory mortgage debt, among other financial difficulties besotting the Mitchell-Lama affordable housing complex.
