SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - Downtown Sioux Falls (DTSF) received a $15,000 grant from the Gilchrist Foundation to paint a new community mural in Sioux Falls.

The theme of the mural will celebrate the Big Sioux River and will be painted by local artist Joe Schaeffer, according to a DTSF news release.

The 60-foot mural is set to be painted in the tunnel of the Cherapa Place parking ramp, and the community is invited to help with the painting of the mural during Riverfest on Saturday, Sept. 20.

“Not only is Joe an accomplished artist, but his idea to involve the community in the creation makes it so very special." Anne Haber of Pendar Properties said in the news release.
