COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri men's basketball will be without second-year center Trent Burns for the start of the 2025-26 season after the 7-foot-5 redshirt freshman underwent surgery Tuesday for a stress reaction in his right foot.

The injury is similar to the one that kept him out for all of last season. At the time, rest and natural recovery seemed like the best course of action. But as the offseason nears its end, Burns and the team decided on surgery.

He will be out for the next six weeks before beginning a return-to-play protocol, per a news release from the program. In all, his recovery is expected to take eight to 12 weeks, which would put Burns on track to debut at some point in November.
