BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Remembrance events are being held nationwide on Thursday as the nation marks 24 years since the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, that killed nearly 3,000 people.
In our region, the memorials included one at the Christ the King School in Burlington.
The school’s music and choral teacher led students through “Amazing Grace” and “America the Beautiful.”
Then, their science teacher and a member of the Vermont Air National Guard lowered a flag to half-staff.
It’s the first year Christ the King has held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony. The principal said she hopes it’s an age-appropriate way to teach kids about the significance of the day.
