COLUMBIA, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri freshman who missed all of last season due to a foot injury has undergone surgery after being recently diagnosed with a similar injury.

The Missouri basketball program said Thursday that redshirt freshman center Trent Burns underwent successful surgery Tuesday for a stress reaction in his right foot.

“A similar injury forced him to miss his entire true freshman season in 2024-25,” a release from Mizzou said. “After electing for rest and natural recovery last year, surgery was decided this offseason as the best plan for his return to action.”

Mizzou said Burns will be out for six weeks before the program determines a return-to-play protocol for a full 8-12 week recovery.
