A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized Sept. 10 after exiting a Metro bus in Akron and getting stabbed, police Lt. Michael Murphy said in a press release.

Officers responded to the 500 block of East Market Street after receiving reports of the stabbing at about 3:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Summa Health Police Department officer applying pressure to the victim's wound as she was lying on the sidewalk across the street from Summa Health Akron, Murphy reported.

The police department subsequently discovered the stabbing stemmed from an argument on a Metro bus between the victim and another woman. After both women exited the bus, the suspect, 34, charged toward the victim and stabbed her multiple times.

The victim's injuries are serious but non-life-threatening, Murphy said.
