A brief ceremony was held at the fountain at the intersection of highways 4 and 8 on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The project originated as a way to honour the late Sandra Garnet, a well-known and admired Isaac Street store owner who died at the age of 60 in April 2022. Article content

“Sandy was instrumental in many things that happened in the downtown area and across the municipality for many, many years,” Mayor Jim Ginn said at the fountain launch. “We certainly miss her.”
In addition to recognizing Garnet, Ginn said the fountain will serve to honour all volunteers across the municipality.
