HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (WNCN) — A new elementary school opened in Holly Springs this school year.

Rex Road Elementary School is one of four new schools opening in the Wake County Public Schools district this year. The school has enough room for more than 900 students, an important feature for a quickly growing community.

"You can see land all around us ready to build. We are only open right now at half capacity but we are projected to have over 900 students," said Staci McGuirt, Rex Road Elementary School Principal.

More than 16,000 students are enrolled at Wake County schools. The district is forecasting enrollment will increase by more than 10,000 students over the next 10 years.
