“ Big Little Lies ” Season 3 is officially in the works at HBO .

Variety has learned that “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-creator Francesca Sloane has boarded the project to write the first episode and executive produce the third season of the hit series. Sloane will executive produce along with David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, and Reese Witherspoon, with Kidman and Witherspoon leading the cast.

The news comes as Sloane has signed a two-year overall deal at HBO, while it was recently announced that filming on “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” Season 2 at Amazon Prime Video had been delayed indefinitely .
