PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - Over 20 businesses and residences across the Pine Belt were raided Thursday after an extensive investigation by the Perry County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began in early 2024, when PCSD Sheriff Jacob Garner began receiving numerous complaints about Perry County businesses selling alcohol, vapes, THC edibles, and other illegal items to underage customers.

WDAM 7 reporters on scene spoke with a mother who said she filed a complaint after her daughter was able to purchase a vape with THC. She tells us her daughter was sent to the ER multiple times as a result. We will have more on this later.

A new deputy, recently retired from the Drug Enforcement Agency, began investigating these allegations.
