SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - As the city of Sioux Falls grows by the thousands so quickly, the city is working on ways to support this growth.

Now that the new state penitentiary is expected to be built in the Sioux Falls area, law enforcement officials have called on the state to give them the financial support they need.

When it became clear that South Dakota’s plan for a new penitentiary would be built in Sioux Falls, law enforcement in the area pleaded that state support would be more crucial than ever. Once uncertain, they are now in full support of the prison.

This includes following through on funding the new prison to be able to relieve stress created by the overcrowding of the current penitentiary.
